Bad car news

Just when you think you've got everything figured out...Geo's new car (the 94 Ford Escort) that Walter so lovingly got into action for us has died. Officially. I think. He spent the last 10 days without it (not really a problem since he was at cancer camp in Prescott) but today he picked it up, having paid $1600 for it and was on his way home. I jokingly told him I wouldn't drink too much wine while making dinner in case he needed to be rescued. Well, 5 minutes after he should have been home, I started calling him, but his phone went straight to voice mail. He called 5 minutes after that from Claimjumper, where he was stranded. He actually drove a mile past the restaurant area and had to run back a mile to make a phone call. His phone was dead. Bizarre, as the roadside assistance guy said. So, he called and I picked him up. On the way there, I saw a white car stranded on the highway with a cop behind it with his lights running. I thought to myself how nice that the cops are probably finding a stolen vehicle that could be returned to its owner. I didn't know where Geo had broken down, so it didn't even occur to me that this was his car!!!
Anyway, the cop had already called a tow truck. We unloaded the car and waited for the truck. We got home and enjoyed dinner, only about an hour late (this at 10:35, by the way). On the way home from the breakdown site (less than 7 miles from home) we called our friend Abe about buying his car, since he's moving home to Singapore and won't be able to take it with. I'll post the pictures of the new car when we get it. For now, I will be mourning the loss of our $900 beautiful Ford Escort. It was a really pretty car. And very fuel efficient. I will miss it...

Geo can take my PT to Prescott on Thursday if things have not eased up. Had no idea that the Escort had died. Sounds like the stop order is in line for the work done the last 10 days. Love, McMom

That was a great little car...I am glad I had the joy of knowing it. I will never forget the joy it brought Geo!
