Birthday Party

Well, about 2 weeks ago when we found out Geo's mom needed the coronary bypass operation, we told her surgeon, okay, fine, but she needs to be home by her birthday. We said hospital birthdays are no fun. Well, after a major surgery with a lengthy recovery, we are just blessed to be able to celebrate another birthday with McMom, period! So today we decorated her room, invited a few friends over, and had "high tea" with scones as the birthday pastry of choice (great idea, Andie!!!). Mom seemed to love it and we were all happy to celebrate the day with her. And her surgeon stopped by and was happy to wish her a happy birthday as well. I won't mention that we broke about every rule the Critical Care Unit has, but it's all for the patient's well-being, right? ;)
FYI: the broken rules include 1) no more than 2 family members visiting at a time, 2) no food or drink in the room except patient food, 3) actually, breaking the first rule felt like breaking two at the same time, because it was mostly friends visiting and there were 7 of us there at the same time. Mom's nurses have been wonderful and her nurse today was a doll for letting us entertain mom this way and they even bought her a balloon and a sweet little angel for a present. We are so spoiled!

Enjoy the pictures!

Surgery News

This is better late than never, but for those of you who follow this blog, you probably know about our McMom. She just underwent a scheduled triple bypass operation yesterday and she is doing well, thank God. She's recovering in the Critical Care Unit for now. Hopefully this surgery will improve her chances to travel again, something she was missing as her health started to decline. Thanks for keeping her in your prayers.

We love McMom!

Happy New Year v 3.0

This is my third posting on or around New Years. Amazing how the time goes. This year, we are NOT setting out on some truly global adventure. I know, how sad. Instead, Geo is turning all his focus on growing his new venture: Arizona Tags and Titles. This is a very worthy thing to do. He's got his new MBA skills, time to put them to use.
I will be attending to all the home fires, some of these haven't even been started yet. It will be a wild adventure for me, I'm sure.
New Year's started off with a bang! Sabrina was here from Germany for the holidays. We threw ourselves a traditional German style party, complete with sparklers, bleigießen, feuerzangenbowle and a showing of "Dinner for One" (don't ask). Just after midnight, we started setting off a string of firecrackers and colorful fireworks. The only problem was the very very cold wind.
Our guest list was short and sweet: Me and Geo, Pooja, Sabrina, Walter (also visiting from Texas), McMom, Andie, Michael, Vania and Simona.
I wish you all a happy and healthy year full of blessings. We hope to keep this blog up to date once in awhile...even if we're not living truly globally for the moment.

Keep in touch!
